Agfa presents the Jeti Tauro and Mira printers

Agfa Graphics unveiled its latest printer innovations at the ISA Expo currently being held at Las Vegas when it also provided an overview of its progress within the sign and graphics sector to date and also outlined its plans for the future.

Dominiek Arnout, Agfa’s Vice Present Inkjet, spoke of Agfa’s aim to innovate, design, develop and manufacture professional system solutions for each major segment of the UV market, to become the industry partner of choice, to capitalise on its strong media knowledge and to drive new industrial applications.

He then revealed that on the Agfa stand, visitors at ISA would be able to see the company’s Anapurna M3200iroll-to-roll printer using a high-density white-ink option, which facilitates the production of an extra bright touch on coloured backgrounds andprominent visibility on any transparent application. The printer canprint white underneath colour, on top of colour or colour/white/color, thus supporting a wide selection of applications. In addition, the system facilitates high-density colour printing without theneed to print in ‘double strike’ mode. All of these options are selectable froma user-friendly intuitive GUI with support in 11 different languages.

The Anapurna M3200i RTR comes optionally with support for printing onmesh without liner and simultaneous dual roll printing up to 1.52 cm (60inches). Agfa Graphics’ Asanti workflow for the sign and display market, adds dedicated colour management and automatic preflighting, thus providingconsistent quality while minimising errors to save time and enhance productivity.

He added that Agfa has also added a new varnish option to the Jeti Titan S and HS true flatbed printing system printers.

Visitors to ISA will see the Jeti Titan HS + FTR (flat-to-roll) outputting ‘spot’ varnish, which can be effectively used to add dramatic effects to many applications, such as POP displays, packaging, decorative prints and trade show graphics. Agfa Graphics’ specially formulated UV-curable varnish is compatible with most standard UV-printing media and cures to a perfect sheen in gloss, or with a semi-gloss effect.

Featuring the latest generation 1,280-nozzle Ricoh Gen 5 print heads, the Jeti Titan S (speed) and HS (high-speed) with varnish + FTR combine exceptional print quality and high productivity at a best-in-industry price point. They are ideal for use on high-value work that is viewed at close range or for the high-level art, fashion and cosmetics markets.

Named as “Product of the Year” at the 2014 SGIA Expo, the Jeti Titan HS system’s FTR option offers the ability to print flexible media to the same high standard as rigid materials. The “S” version of the Jeti Titan has a single row of print heads, but is field upgradeable to add the second row as and when required.

Agfa Graphics also used the occasion of the show to launch the new Jeti Tauro and Jeti Mira printers, bot of which are targeted at the higher-end segment of the sign and display sectors, being designed to deliver high-productivity and high-quality output.

Thehybrid Jeti Tauro system, which offers optional semi or full media load /unload automation. prints up to 2,5 metre-wide rolls or rigid material and is completely operated from the Asanti workflow software.

The Jeti Mira is a true flatbed printer, ruggedly built and available intwo table versions: 2.7m x 1.6m and 2.7m x 3.2m sizes. The moving-gantry architecture is specifically designed tooffer optimal flexibility and high-quality output on a variety ofdifferent media. To reduce vacuum masking, the split vacuum tablefeatures six vacuum zones with automatic and independent controlof the front and back vacuum zones, while the ‘Print and Prepare’ feature makes the Jeti Mira unique for printing on both small objects and larger boards sizes.

Dominiek Arnout commented: “We promised a series of new state-of-the-art products during the course of 2015 and we truly believe the market will embrace these two new systems thatmake ultimate use of our dedicated ink technology and our tailored sign and display workflow. In addition, our Matched Component Approach guarantees that every component yields the best possible result.”

He added: “Today, Agfa Graphics’ UV-curable inks deliver large-gamut highqualityprints with the lowest ink consumption per square metrein the industry, thanks to the ‘thin ink layer technology’ in both the JetiTauro and the Jeti Mira. The new inks for Jeti and Anapurnasystems target flexible applications, special substrates and outdoorsignage printed on polypropylene or styrene based media types andprovide image longevity.”

The new Asanti 2.0 wide format workflow software controls the entire process from prepress to production to finishing. Along the way, it simplifies, optimises and automates. As a true production hub, the unique bi-directional communication with the new Jeti Tauro and connection towards Acorta streamlines production even further. Asanti v2.0 also features new options for printing white on transparent substrates. Asanti’s comprehensive integration of file handling, colour management and preflighting also reduce the risk ofmistakes and make the complete system more productive.

Asanti is perfectly complemented by Asanti StoreFront, Agfa Graphics’ web-to-print solution that manages online stores and processes printorders automatically.

All of these new products and other Agfa Graphics solutions will be making their European debut at FESPA 2015 on 18th-22nd May, in Cologne.
