The Antalis Digital Academy hosts first breakfast seminar

The Antalis Digital Academy serves as a unique hub of information for anyone interested in digital printing. Created to assist businesses and individuals looking to invest in digital printing technology, it is equipped with the latest digital hardware and offers live demonstrations and real-life application case studies.

The session combined a mixture of industry insights and inspirational stories from two industry experts: Sean Smyth and James Cameron. Attendees included representatives from the BPIF, BSGA and IPIA, as well as major companies within the industry.

Sean Smyth, who has more than 25 years experience in the print industry and is the author of Smithers Pira’s flagship title, ‘The Print & Production Manual’ and the ‘Future of Global Print Markets’, covered a range of topics, including the broader changes in the print community and the drivers encouraging the adoption of digital printing technology in the publishing, commercial, labelling and packaging sectors. In addition, he offered some thought-provoking suggestions, which stimulated a lively discussion on the future investments that business leaders should be considering.

The second speaker was James Cameron, who founded the Forces’ Motorsports Charity in 2012 after retiring from the Army. James served all over the world including operational tours to Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq, and in 2010, while deployed to Afghanistan to command the Armoured Group on Herrick 13, he received a Mention in Despatches.

James talked about the inspirational work of Mission Motorsports and its role in aiding the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations. Describing truly amazing feats of bravery and endurance, James highlighted the role that digital printing is playing in racing, retraining and recovery.  The ex-military personnel that that work with Mission Motor Sport have been helped to acquire new skills, such as learning to vehicle wrap via programmes such as the Digital Academy’s Introduction to Vehicle Wrapping and Vinyl Application Workshops.

Athough this was the first breakfast seminar the Digital Academy has hosted, the event proved so successful that additional events are being planned for the future.
