Ask Hubi!

Customers of Durst, the industrial inkjet applications specialist, can have their printing materials and designs tested in Durst’s Demo Center in Brixen, Italy, and receive the optimum parameters in order to set up their system for the relevant application.

As a result of this service, an archive of more than 1,500 tested types of media has been built up over the years and, over the last few months, Durst has digitalized this information and collated it in an extensive database.

In future, customers will be able to access this database via a web browser over the Internet, make a selection according to material manufacturer, media type and area of application and download the required data as a PDF file.

This will enable them to start production with new applications in no time – without the need for protracted tests and long sampling processes.

“Our material tests constitute a particular incentive for customers to opt for Durst – because they know that we will not leave them alone when faced with the daily challenges of the production process. With the new database we share our collective knowledge with our customers and provide them with a powerful tool,” said Fabian Sottsas, Product Manager,Roll-to-Roll Printing at Durst Phototechnik AG.

‘Ask Hubi’

Durst has nicknamed the new database for roll media “Ask Hubi” – in reference to Hubert Fischer, the technical head of the media samplingdepartment.

He has been working in Durst’s Demo Center in Brixen for over a decade and in that time has tested every conceivable roll-based material, including paper, PVC and textiles. All results are incorporated into the new database, supplying new content on a continuous basis.

That is why customers “Ask Hubi”. If he says it can’t be done, it just can’t be done.

Durst has produced two video clips to provide information about the new roll media database and about media sampling in the Demo Center:
