Blackman and White at the cutting edge
Blackman and White, the only UK manufacturer of industrial laser, knife and router flatbed cutting machines, will be exhibiting its flagship VersaTech machine at Sign & Digital UK, where it will be showing on Stand G10.
Developed for high volume production and engineered to process a wide range of materials, the VersaTech offers creasing, ‘V’ cut, kiss cut, router, drag knife, oscillating, driven wheel and laser tools, together with a dual knife station for holding interchangeable ‘drop-in’ tools, thus enabling quick and easy tool changes.
Robustly built and highly versatile, the 2.5kW and 5KW water-cooled routers facilitate long production runs on rigid materials, such as aluminium composites, Foamex and acrylic and offer precision cutting, with an accuracy of +/- 0.02mm.
Blackman and White developed the first cutting system that supported a laser, router as well as knife tools. As the laser, which has cutting speeds in excess of 1000mm/second, is not in direct contact with the substrate, the risk of dragging the material is eliminated, thus resulting in a highly accurate finish when compared to that of a rotary knife. The laser also seals the edge of woven materials, such as polyester and eliminates fraying. Accordingly, the laser cut fabric comes off the table cleanly, making additional operations, such as sewing, quicker and easier to complete.
The VersaTech is available in standard widths up to 3.2m, and comes in cutting lengths of 1.5m and 3.0m. The cutting bed is conveyorised for cutting parts longer than the table. An optional powered roll feed is also available to assist with the advancing of the fabric onto the table on either the standard conveyor belt or laser belt.
