Blackman & White unveils the Versa Tech 2

British cutting machine manufacturer Blackman & White IS launching its award-winning Versa Tech 2 into Europe at FESPA 2017, which is currently taking place in Hamburg.

The Versa Tech 2, which won 2016 SGIA Product of the Year Award for Finishing-Routers/Cutters, was developed in collaboration with leading US print finishing solutions provider, MCT Digital.

The Versa Tech 2 offers excellent flexibility as it can be fitted with a number of tools, including a driven rotary cutter, tangential drag knife, oscillating knife, kiss-cutting tool, pen plotting, angle-V cutting, crease tool, 100w CO2 laser and a 5kw water-cooled router.

It also offers a strengthened beam and improved rack and pinion drive system, thus enabling it to move at an impressive acceleration of 1.25g and speeds of 2000mm/second.

Its workflow features include Tiger Pack and Tilia Griffin for Tiger Vision as well as PDF and integration with leading RIP manufacturers for print, and Tiger Vision for cutting.

Commenting on the Versa Tech 2, Blackman & White’s Managing Director, Alex White said: “It is a all-in-one finishing system that can handle more intricate patterns than other routers or knives can achieve and its tighter job nesting reduces waste, whichimproves our customers’ bottom line.

“It also delivers eight to 12 times the throughput and productivity compared to manual hot knife cutting of textiles and furthermore, as the laser seals the cut edges, it eliminates the need for extra finishing processes such as sewing. We expect our customers to achieve full ROI in under a year or as little as four to six months when the machine is used in a multiple shift operation.

“When using the laser, the Versa Tech 2 also operates at speeds that enable it to keep up with multiple printers, so finishing should no longer cause a production bottleneck.”
