British Sign Awards offers two categories for vehicle liveries

Commercial vehicles have been used for advertising since the days of the horse-drawn cart but , with the evolution of digital printing equipment and the development of special substrates and a completely new skill set, the vehicle liveries of today are a new art form.

These new vinyl substrates and improved printing technology  have also led to the development of a new and expanding niche market – the wrapping of personal vehicles, to help make a unique statement about the owner and/or  to protect the original paintwork and help preserve the value of the vehicle.

Both strands of vehicle graphics will be recognised at this year’s British Sign Awards organised by the BSGA (British Sign and Graphics Association).

The Commercial Vehicle Graphics of the Year, sponsored by William Smith, is open to any project involving applying graphics to any type of commercial vehicle, from white vans, through fleets of lorries to planes boats and trains.

Also up for grabs is the award for the ‘Wrap of the Year’, sponsored by Amari.  The award is open to all projects involving full or creative partial wraps on any car or small vehicle (eg motor bikes), whether done for personal, sporting or show purposes.

“Applying graphics and wraps to vehicles of all kinds forms an increasingly important revenue stream for many sign makers but we also recognise that many businesses are now dedicated to vehicle liveries,” said David Catanach of the BSGA.  “The awards are open to all businesses involved in providing this service.”

Full details on how to enter these and any other award category, together an entry form. can be found on the awards website at www.britishsignawards.org. Entry is free and is open to all. Closing date for receipt of entries is  Friday, September 8th.  Winners will be announced at the awards gala event in Leicester on November 8th.
