BSGA completes its change-over to ISA-UK

The leading trade organisation for the UK sign industry, the British Sign & Graphics Association (BSGA), has entered a new chapter in its history, with a new name and a new president and vice-president.

The organisation, which was founded more than 70 years ago, is now affiliated to the International Sign Association, based in the USA, rebranding as ISA-UK, powered by BSGA (ISA-UK).

The new president of ISA-UK has been announced as Robert Lambie, the founder of uksignboards.com and a director of Fast Signs (Scotland). Lambie (pictured left above), who will serve a two-year term, has taken over from David Derbyshire of Astra Signs.

Commenting on his new role, Lambie said: “It’s an honour to become president of the association at such a momentous time. I’m determined to continue David’s good work and help take our organisation forward to benefit our members and the UK sign and graphics industry as a whole.

“The International Sign Association (ISA) is instrumental in shaping and developing the sign, graphics and visual communications industry worldwide and being joined with the ISA community will provide our members with access to a whole range of resources and expertise, complementing what we already have in the UK.”

Sam Armstrong, Managing Director of signage consultancy Make it Happen, takes over as vice-president of ISA-UK. She said: “Many companies find themselves grappling with key issues within the sign and graphics industry, such as staff training, environmental responsibility, planning regulations and health and safety concerns, thus it’s vital that sign and graphic companies keep up to date with all of the latest developments and we are here to help with that.”

David Catanach, the Director of ISA-UK, added: “Working with bodies such as HSE and British Standards, we’re committed to setting the quality benchmarks within our industry and helping our members to exceed them.  As well as gaining access to a wide range of practical information, advice and training, our members are making a clear declaration to their customers and potential customers that they are proud to be amongst the best of the best in the UK sign industry.”
