CIM celebrates its 20th Anniversary
Norfolk based signs, graphics and wide format printer CIM, is celebrating its 20th year in business. For the past two decades, the company, which specialises in the design, production and installation of signs, vehicle and window graphics and exhibition, display and point of sale materials for both local and national clients, has gone from strength to strength.

While CIM has achieved significant growth, it has always reinvested in the business, while also seeking opportunities to provide clients with new products and to capitalise on the latest trends, such as the production of bespoke wall coverings. It continues to purchase new equipment to expand its services and offer faster turnaround times and more eco-friendly print.

In 2018, CIM expanded its original premises on Mackintosh Road by taking on the unit directly next door in order to increase capacity by 30 percent and create the region’s largest bespoke, climate-controlled facility for vehicle wraps and graphics. At the end of 2019, CIM became the first company in East Anglia to install a Canon Océ Colorado 1650 printer, which can print materials up to 1.6m wide using an ink gel that is more economical and better for the environment. The Canon has sped up workflow by four times.

While the past 12 months have proved particularly challenging for businesses nationwide, CIM has used its knowledge and expertise to diversify into new areas, enabling it to continue trading and to support those who reopened when lockdown eased. Before 2020, CIM had produced less than 10 protective screens in the company’s 20-year history, but in the past six months, it has produced in excess of 3,000 screens, including desk/countertop versions for retailers and garden centres and even screens inside vehicles for driving instructors.

Established in 2000 with a team of three, today CIM employs 18 full-time members of staff. Managing director, Mark Baker, is one of the original employees who set up the business. Having started his career with a franchised sign company, he wanted to create a business that would offer him greater autonomy and growth opportunities.

He said: “We are so proud to be celebrating our 20th anniversary. This is a major milestone and it’s all thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at CIM. We’re really passionate about what we do and always try to deliver the very best for every client on every single job – something that has stood us in good stead for the past two decades. 2020 has been a particularly challenging year and for us to be celebrating this anniversary and looking ahead to the next 20 years is a great achievement.”

CIM’s customers include QD Group, Mattressman, Batemans, Broadland Housing, Gasway, Mayday, Norfolk Wildlife Trust and The Alarm Company.
