Designs and Sports ID to merge

The Hull-based vehicle branding, sign and digital print company Designs is to merge with sister firm Sports ID in a move that will strengthen the services of both businesses.

Managing Director Rob Daysley launched Designs 25 years ago, growing the business from a sole trader operation to one that employs 30 people at a 10,000sq.ft workshop.

After winning a contract to install all graphics and signage at the KCOM Stadium in 2003, Rob Daysley created Sports ID to focus solely on the sports sector.

Today,Sport ID serves Premier League and European football clubs, rugby league and union sides as well as indoor competitions such as the world darts and snooker championships.

Now both businesses will operate under the Designs name, and the two teams will come together to offer all clients more support.

Rob Daysley said: “Our Sports ID customers will continue to work with the same contacts and will benefit from dealing with a larger organisation with more people.

“We will still be providing our same level of excellent service and will maintain the highly-reactive way that we work to meet the needs of our sports clients.

“This is also a very positive move for Designs and coincides with the company’s 25th anniversary.”

Designs will continue to offer vehicle livery services for everything from a single van, to a fleet of hundreds of vehicles.t

It is also a market leader in signage and has completed projects for clients operating in retail, education, commercial and property development sectors.

Rob Daysley commissioned an animation from creative communications agency Pace to announce the merger to clients.

He explained: “Instead of just sending a letter, I wanted to do something innovative and informative to reassure our customers and answer any questions they may have.

“The animation idea reflects the creativity of Designs and Sports ID and our commitment to excellent customer service and quality.

“It has helped us to illustrate that the two companies are better together and we are looking forward to an exciting future working as Designs.”
