GDL announces winners of Sign & Digital UK competition
Specialist wide format print solutions provider, Graphic Dealers Ltd (GDL) has announced the runners up of the Oldest Solvent Printer in Town competition – held at Sign & Digital UK 2013 at the NEC Birmingham.
The runners up didn’t have to own a solvent printer, just a wide format printer and enter their details at the stand. It’s the third year in a row that the GDL stand has hosted this competition, with previous prizes including an all day racing experience at the famous Donington racetrack and an iPAD2. This year’s runners up won Red Letter Day vouchers and six winners were chosen at random from the 500+ entrants to the competition.
The runners up are:
- Ace Toys
- Fusion Graphix
- Leiston Press
- LightBrigade Media Corp
- Make Marking Systems Ltd
- University of Wolverhampton
All the winners have now been notified. Martin McLaughlin from Fusion Graphix commented, “We’ve had our Roland SP540V for over 10 years now and it still produces excellent graphics for our big brand clients including BMW, UPS and Herbalife. We’re delighted with the win and I’m looking forward to choosing my Red Letter Day experience very soon!.”
Sophie Marie Whayman from Leiston Press said, “We have had the Mimaki CJV30-130 for just over 18months. We print posters, vinyls for signage and vehicle graphics, canvases, banners and roller banners, artist prints, kiss cut labels, cling vinyls and much more. I’m over the moon at winning the Red Letter Day vouchers and I think I will probably go for a spa experience!”
Treloen Penycate, production manager at LightBrigade Media commented, “We’ve owned our Valuejet since 2009. It was an ex-demo model. It was so good that soon after we got a second one! We mostly print on to self-adhesive vinyl, poster paper, wallpaper and canvas for office interiors, shop fits, point of sale and exhibition stands. I’ve had a look at the Red Letter Day website, but there is so much choice that I need more time to decide!”
The winner of the main prize – a weekend trip to Barcelona – is yet to be formally announced so watch this space!
Graham Baulch, Managing Director of GDL said, “For three years now, we’ve run competitions which coincide with Sign & Digital UK. The majority of our resellers are dedicated to the wide format print and finishing solutions so it makes sense to promote it at the show. Our first promotion in 2010 launched the Oldest Printer in Town competition. This sought to find the oldest plan/copier printer and the oldest wide format inkjet and we actually found a plan copier that was over 50 years old and still working!. We were the first company in the UK to launch this kind of innovative campaign in the wide format print sector and as many of our member reseller companies have been trading for over 40 years, we knew that we would have the reach to find genuine working machines. And we did. This new campaign to find the oldest working solvent printer proved a little harder as peoples’ perceptions of “solvent” was far and wide! However, we have now whittled it down and will announce the winner very shortly. We offer a very hearty congratulations to all our winners and runners up and now all we have to do, is decide how to top it next year!”
