Manchester-based Plastic Formers, which has been supplying fabricated, moulded and engineered plastic components since its inception nearly 50 years ago, now specialises in the manufacture, processing and design of plastic products.

When the company recently decided to expand its product range, it began seeking a digital printer that it could use to print directly on to a wide range of thermo formable plastics, a search that led it directly to the EFI H1625 SuperDraw printer.

Daniel Jepson, the company’s Technical Director and his team first saw the machine at CMYUK during a visit to the company’s Shrewsbury-based demonstration centre. Daniel explained: We saw the machine in action and were also able to test it with some of the materials we use, so that we could judge its efficacy for ourselves. We were very impressed to see how easily it changed from one job to the next and with the quality of its output, so much so that we decided to buy it on the drive home!”

Plastic Formers’EFI H1625 SuperDraw, the first one to be sold in the UK, is now enabling the company to offer large quanitites of innovative products with very short lead times.

The EFI H1625 prints directly to a wide range of thermo formable plastics, eliminates costly and time-consuming screen or hand-painting processes, delivers near-photographic image quality with four colours, plus white as standard, and offers eight-level variable drop grayscale printing capability.

It can be used in conjunction with EFI SuperDraw UV inks that are ideal for high-elongation thermoforming applications, such as outdoor signage, POP signs and displays, backlit signs and promotional products, to name but a few.

In addition, it can also be successfully used on all brands of corrugated polypropylene with uncompromising adhesion and flexibility, thus opening up further revenue streams in the future.

Daniel Jepson concluded: “The H1625 is a great machine and we are delighted with our purchase. CMYUK has provided a fantastic level of support and, as well as growing our product portfolio, we are now also taking on jobs that we didn’t have the capacity to accept before, so the machine is already paying for itself.”
