Rainbow wraps for Pride
A fleet of AA (Automobile Association) vans turned heads at this year’s Pride in London Parade thanks to colourful wraps fitted by Fleet Livery Solutions (FLS) using 3M products.
FLS gave the 10 vehicles their rainbow-inspired half wraps using 3M Scotchlite Print Wrap Film 780mc-10R.
This innovative productoffers high retro-reflectivity day and night, thus providing vehicles with impressive visibility and maximum design impact. In addition, the white print film is highly conformable and has excellent heat recovery properties.
The AA vans joined around 500 parade groups in the capital at the annual event that aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and to campaign for these individuals’ freedoms.
Edmund King, AA president, said: “Visibility of our vans is always important as they need to stand out and be seen. These limited edition rainbow vans are a welcome addition to our fleet and certainly make a positive statement.
“We’re honoured to be adding a big splash of colour and all things rainbow to our summer this year by supporting Pride. It is an uplifting celebration of diversity and our support underlines our fundamental commitment to ensuring equality is embedded within the AA.”
FLS was established in 2010 and has been a 3M AuthorisedVehicle Wrapper since 2015. It has been wrapping AA vans for seven years and producing its graphics for four.
The vehicle wrapping company, which is based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, applied the AA’s rainbow wraps in Banbury, Oxfordshire over the course of three days.
FLS managing director Ashley Gloyn said: “When the AA asked us to come up with a design for Pride in London, we knew we had to do something a bit special, which is why we decided to do the whole thing using Scotchlite Print Wrap Film 780mc-10R.
“When the sun hits it, it’s really vibrant, and at night it shines – just like switching a light on – so the design really stands out. It’s perfect.”
The rainbow design is a twist on the AA’s usual livery, which features a giant yellow-gradient beam on each van’s side, pointing to the company’s web address on the door.
Before 2018, all AA vans were wrapped using 3M’s Envision Print Wrap Film 480, with highlights of Envision Print Wrap Film 680. Now, they use Scotchlite Print Wrap Film 780mc-10R. For maximum visibility and safety, all AA vans also feature Diamond Grade reflective sheeting by 3M, which is also used for many emergency services vehicles.
