Roland launches new RIP for MAC users

Roland DG has launched of Rolandprintstudio, apowerful new RIP and print management software for Mac OS X, which is available for use with Roland printers, printer/cutters and standalone cutters.

This new software, which offers numerous timesaving and efficiency-creating features at an affordable price, enables Mac OS X users to quickly and easily manage the print production process.

At its heart is the Adobe PDF Print Engine, which renders artwork using native Adobe functionality, thus enabling users to work quickly and accurately throughout the entire RIP – Print – Cut process, while increasing overall production speeds and eliminating the problems often associated with layers and transparencies. In addition, by harnessing its 64bit processing capabilities, Rolandprintstudio is able to maximise the available operating system resources and deliver very fast RIP speeds.

It also offers some advanced workflow assisting tools; for example its multitasking environment means users can RIP, print and cut on two devices simultaneously, while unlimited hot folders offer maximum automation of the RIP functionality. An image bar stores and sorts images for quick access and an advanced nesting facility maximises media usage to save on bottom line business costs, while a costing function enables users to automatically calculate print costs for easy quotations. Furthermore, a sophisticated spooler function, which as well as enabling multiple users to submit to a print queue, also facilitates quick reprints through easy access to historical job settings.

Rolandprintstudio also enables speciality colours, such as white, gloss or metallic, to be created from CMYK data, and artwork can be adjusted for perfect pixel-to-pixel registration. Also included are all industry standard colour libraries, including all RAL, HKS and pantone colour swatches. At no extra cost, there is also an embedded profiling module to enable operators to create custom ICC profiles to deliver accurate colour reproduction whilst optimising ink consumption.

Further features include advanced tiling functionality and an Application Guide tool to provide the fitter with clear instructions on how to install larger-scale tiled prints or vehicle wraps. And finally, it offers the ability to print grommet locations for accurate post-print finishing.

Rolandprintstudio is supplied on a USB keyand can be ordered via official Roland DG dealerships. Free demonstrations can be arranged by contacting Roland direct on Tel: 01275 335540 and visitors to FESPA 2015 will be able to see demonstrations on the Roland stand (Stand Q15, Hall 6) at the show
