Signbox welcomes an era of automation
Signbox is awaiting delivery of its new Zünd S3 L1200, a precision cutting system that will enable the Surrey-based architectural sign specialist to further extend its capabilities.
Notably, the Zünd S3 will be installed before Signbox embarks on some sizeable projects that will involve supplying a variety of environmental graphics for the commercial office sector.
Mark Bartlett, the company’s Managing Director said:”We are one of many small British companies providing a personalised and proactive service to blue chip corporates and everything we do starts and ends with quality, so in-house automated finishing is an important part of our offering.
“In addition, since there seems to be an increasing demand for printed glass manifestation, wallpaper, vinyl and CAD cut graphics, we decided to replace hand-finishing with digital cutting in order to increase our precision, speed of turnaround and consistency in production.”
Mark Bartlett notes that whilst Signbox has already been using routers for general signmakingpuposes, it was keen to invest in a specifically designed cutting machine, rather than a router that also performs cutting operations. The company uses a variety of different substrates andits average production is over 100 linear metres – all of which need to be professionally and accurately finished.
To achieve this level of precision the Zünd S3 uses its intelligent control technology, advanced drive system and modular tooling, which enables the user to order a configuration that is tailored to meet their specific needs. As a basic model it has a compact footprint, but can be extended with additional and upgraded tools and material handling modules at any time, thus ensuring that it is flexible enough to evolve with a business and retain its value for years to come. As well as offering exceptional safety standards, adaptable workflow options and high levels of automation, the Zünd S3 requires minimal operator interaction.
Signbox had seen Zünd’s hardware in action at last year’s trade shows, including Sign and Digital UK, Fespa and Viscom, and also spent a half-day at Zünd UK’s demonstration centre in St Albans.
Mark Bartlett continued: “We were certainly convinced that we had to invest in the S3 after the demo, especially when we realised that it could be tailored to suit our current requirements and upgraded with further modules as and when we need them.”
Signboxis making some changes to its Egham-based headquarters in order to conveniently accommodate the Zünd S3 L1200 next to its graphics department and is already looking forward to using the machine to further perfect its client offering.
