Signs Express celebrates its best ever year in style

Signs Express had a lot to celebrate at its recent annual Convention, which was held at the Hilton Deansgate Hotel in Manchester and featured a full seminar programme, plus an exhibition that was supported by over 20 of the industry’s leading suppliers.

As well as celebrating its 25th anniversary of franchising, and welcoming four new franchisees to its network, the company also commemorated its best-ever annual turnover.

Managing Director Craig Brown used the event to present a number of awards to the franchise network and also revealed plans for the company’s future, including investment in new staff and infrastructure in order to further expand the support available to franchisees.

Finance Director, Jonathan Bean also announced the increased start-up package contribution for new franchisees, which is designed to help them get off to a flying start and to become profitable more quickly.

Big winners on the night were Signs Express Plymouth franchisees, Chris and Vida Reilly and Signs Express Portsmouth franchisees, Ray and Jane Allenby who were named as the joint winners of the Franchisee of the Year award.

Craig Brown commented:, “It was impossible to choose between both sets of franchisees and, for the first time ever, there are two winners.

“Signs Express Plymouth, which has celebrated its 20th anniversary, has used the support on offer to drive a real shift change in its business, investing time and energy into local sales and marketing activities, with a resulting 24 percent growth in its operations.

“Signs Express Portsmouth has also delivered outstanding levels of growth in 2017, currently standing at 65 percent, by setting targets and following through. These have included making dramatic changes to its team structure, building closer relationships with key customers and delivering outstanding customer service.”

The Signs Express network was also invited to present its best work for judging at the company’s annual Sign Awards. Competition. Over 80 entries were received across five categories and franchisees and their staff were asked to vote for their favourite projects.

Signs Express Sheffield picked up two awards for the best exterior sign and best interior sign for its work with Bombardier and Sheffield Children’s Hospital respectively. In addition, the company’s James Stuchbury was named as a joint employee of the year, together with Signs Express Exeter’s Alice Dowle, both of whom were also recently named as finalists in the British Sign Awards’ Young Sign Maker of the year category.

The award for the best project went to Signs Express Basildon for its work at the leisure facility Jump Evolution and Signs Express Bedford won the award for best vehicle graphics in respect of its double-decker bus wrap. The award for most striking design or sign went to Signs Express Central Lancashire for its work at Moor Park School.
