Signs Express Convention a huge success

Held at Twickenham Stadium, the home of England Rugby, the recent Signs Express’2019 Convention was hailed as a huge success.

The event began with a memorable speech from Managing Director, Jonathan Bean, which used the theme ‘Stronger Together’ to  highlight the achievements of the Signs Express network and Franchise Support Centre team, which contributed to the overall network performance growth in 2018.

A total of 28 suppliers joined with sponsors HP and Metamark to host an exhibition that ran throughout the duration of the event, and following a vote by the 65 Signs Express centres, Metamark was also named as the Signs Express Supplier of the Year 2018,.

In addition, attendees were able to enjoy the hands-on demonstrations, including the use of architectural materials by the William Smith Group, LEDs by The Sign Group, wall coverings by Papergraphics and vehicle graphics application by Spandex, while a series of seminars covered many key topics such as a workshop on digital signage by Inurface Media and a discussion on innovation and future trends by the Make It Happen signage consultancy.

The culmination of the day’s activities was the presentation of the Signs Express Sign Awards 2018, where trophies were awarded to the Newcastle, Falkirk and Birmingham SW centres for the Most Striking Design, the Best Interior Sign and the Best Vehicle Graphics respectively, with Signs Express (Stoke) taking home two trophies in respect of the Best Interior Sign and the Best Sign Project.

The event, which continued into the evening, also featured a tour of Twickenham Stadium and a three-course meal, concluding with entertainment from Ian Robertson, a rugby commentator for 47 years, and the presentation of the coveted Signs Express Franchise Awards.

Jonathan Bean took the opportunity to present special recognition awards of signed rugby memorabilia to Graham Casey of Signs Express (Glasgow), Joe Smith of Signs Express (Birmingham SW), Paul and Lynda Heywood of Signs Express (Harlow), Janiv Patel of Signs Express (Milton Keynes) and David Anthony of Signs Express (Warwick), before moving on to the main Franchise Awards.

Jonathan Bean commented: “Craig has consistently gone above and beyond, and is always pushing himself and the business to adapt and grow.  The centre surpassed its previous year performance every month during 2018, increasing its annual sales by 50 percent. With planned investment in the premises and territory expansion, we are genuinely excited about where this business can go over the next few years and look forward to working with Signs Express (Stoke) to make it happen.”
