Stonework gets striped!

Stonework gets striped!

When Worthing and London-based L&S Display was commissioned to produce and install a special bespoke graphic to Christie’s King Street Gallery in central London, it faced the challenge of finding a material that it could apply directly to the building’s stone surface as well as to the surrounding pavement.

After considering the various options L & S Display selected Asphalt Art’s non-slip media, which conforms perfectly to irregular and rough surfaces, but is easy to remove when required.

Stonework-proves-no-problem-for-L&S-Display’s-print,-cut-and-wrap-skills-1The substrate was printed on L&S Display’s EFI VUTEk GS2000 2m roll-fed and flatbed printer to produce the stipulated vivid green colour required, with each sectionthen being cut to size on the company’s Zünd G3 digital cutter, which incorporates advanced material handling and leaves a clean edge on the finished output. The bold green visual graphic was produced and installed within very tight deadlines, and performed perfectly for the period required.

Commenting on the project, Adam Broomfield, Sign & Display Manager at L & S Display, explained: “In this instance a conventional brick vinyl was not an option, but when we carried out our initial tests on the Asphalt Art substrate, supplied by CMYUK, it adhered very well to both the building’s stone fascia and the pavement, and was immediately approved by Christie’s.”

He continued: Installation was very straightforward, and quickly accomplished with the use of a squeegee.”

Asphalt Art has been developed as a non-slip graphic material that is ideal for use in applications that require a durability of up to twelve months. It requires no over-lamination and is thin enough to conform to untreated and rough surfaces, including stone, brick and paved areas. Simple and easy to apply, it is equally easy to remove, making it a popular choice for use at events andfor wayfinding, street art and retail graphics.
