The Big Ink Tank goes green with the Anapurna
Just two months after the installation of Agfa’s largest hybrid Anapurna H3200 UV LED wide format press, The Big Ink Tank in Coventry has proclaimed itself delighted with its purchase.
First established in 2009 by Ty Power, who had previously worked for Lithocraft, a large regional repro house, for over 20 years, The Big Ink Tank provides display graphics for a wide variety of clients, employs a staff of six and enjoys an annual turnover of over £400k.
Explaining his choice of the Agfa machine, Ty Power explained: “We had never previously used Agfa equipment, but the business had reached a stage where we were looking to invest in a new machine, as opposed to a second-hand one. Agfa fully appreciated that it was necessary for it to convince everyone in the company, especially the members of our production team, that it could offer the perfect printer. To that end, it spent a full year working with us, during which time it introduced us to businesses that had made similar decisions and, after endless demos and training sessions, I placed the order.
“It was a good decision. The Anapurna H3200i LED, which is 3.2m wide, is perfect for us and the price was affordable, but with my repro background, it was the Asanti workflow that completely sold it to me. It’s just so intuitive. “
The wide-format hybrid Anapurna LED series is the ideal choice for companies that want to output both board and roll-to-roll work and combines high quality and productivity to deliver outdoor and indoor applications. The printers are fitted with air-cooled UV LED lights that reduce energy expenditure and time and are also suitable for use with heat-sensitive materials. The Agfa Asanti software is a complete, automated wide format production hub that streamlines workflow, thus effectively shortening pre-press procedures.
The installation of the Agfa Anapurna H3200i LED at The Big Ink Tank has already led to efficiency savings for the business, with Ty Power reporting that it is making the company ‘work smarter’, something that is very important when working on time-sensitive projects such as exhibition graphics. In addition, the company is also using the machine’s white ink capability to offer a range of new products.
Ty Power concluded by reflecting on the long-term advantages of his investment. He said: “The Anapurna has certainly helped us to become more efficient and to offer a more environmentally friendly service too, something which I think will become increasingly important in the future as we all begin to consider the ecological impact of the materials we use, especially those that are used for short-term campaigns and then thrown to waste. Happily, with the Anapurna, we are now well placed to tackle this issue, which provides us with a further competitive advantage – we couldn’t be more pleased!”
