The post-apocalypse race
The Lotus F1 Team, in co-operation with Warner Bros. Pictures, created a new F1 racing machine suitable for a post-apocalyptic future. The new car, the Lotus F1 Team Mad Max Hybrid, was created to coincide with the launch of the 2015 epic action adventure Mad Max: Fury Road.
The rat-look Lotus Hybrid was fitted with a new skin, printed on the Lotus F1 Team’s Roland SOLJET PRO4 XR-640 using an unlaminated metallic 3M Wrap Film,1080-M230 Matte Grey Aluminum, which helped to transform the vehicle from gleaming supercar to something more at home in the Australian wasteland.
The speed and accuracy of the Roland printer proved invaluable and enabled the project to be satisfactorily completed within the tight deadline. The machine was left to run overnight unattended, so that the wrap could be applied the following day in time for the big reveal at the Barcelona International Motor Show, held at the Montjuïc Exhibition Centre, along with the custom made Nux’s car and the iconic Mad Max Interceptor.
