The Print Show 2020 attracts early interest

The Print Show has officially opened stand bookings for the 2020 event, with the organiser, Link Exhibitions reporting that a number of companies are signing up early in order to secure their place at next year’s event.

The Print Show 2020 will take place on September 27th-29th in Halls 7 and 8 at the NEC in Birmingham, where it will once again showcase a wide range of printing solutions drawn from every sector of the print industry.

After enjoying a successful 2019 exhibition, several companies, including Vivid Laminating Technologies, TheMagicTouch, Axzyra, Ribbon Writer, Versatility in Print and Ribbon Printer have all booked stands for 2020.

Reflecting on the decision to sign up almost a year before the 2020 show opens, Richard Marlow, Sales Director at Vivid Laminating Technologies, said: “After experiencing such a positive response at this year’s event, it was impossible not to commit to the 2020 show, especially as we expect to have lots of new innovations that we’re eager to introduce to visitors.

“In fact, day one of the 2019 event was record-breaking for us, as we clocked up more sales than we have ever previously achieved on a single day at a UK show, while overall, we also received our largest total number of leads from a UK show!”

Another early booking for 2020 is TheMagicTouch, with Managing Director Jim Nicholls declaring that the number of attendees at the 2019 show, coupled with their calibre, ‘ticked all the boxes’ for his company

He said: “We are still following up on the various leads but will easily exceed our sales target from the previous years. In particular, we were very impressed by the new business generated by people and companies that were not previously on our radar.

“We have booked for 2020 because we consider this event to be the premium print industry exhibition, and with the addition of The Sign Show alongside, we see a great opportunity to engage with customers from both industry sectors.”

Nicol added that extra benefits would also accrue from the decision to change the timing of the event. He said: “The bold move by the organiser to incorporate a Sunday opening is great. We have over 28 years of experience in exhibiting all over the world and all the exhibitions that include a weekend day have flourished and grown beyond expectations.

“This was confirmed only last week at Viscom in Milan where Saturday was once again the busiest day for visitors who are spending their own money, not company money.”

Another returning company is Axzyra, and Managing Director, Steve Woods, claimed that a key draw for the 2020 show is the organiser’s commitment to the continuous evolution of the event.

Woods explained: “The Print Show is our main annual showcase for our Apache UV Flatbed range and we appreciate the fact that we always see a variety of new faces combined with returning customers. This enables us to top up our lead pool and newsletter mailing list, which, in turn, leads to more sales over the subsequent 12-18 months.”

A host of other exhibitors at the 2019 event have also shared their experiences at the show. Phil Oakley, Regional Business Manager, Large-Format printing at the HP Graphics Solutions Business, observed: “Our marketing team did a fantastic job and created an attractive stand, but Link Exhibitions also deserves credit for providing genuinely interesting guest speakers, the Golden Ticket feature and book signings.

“I think next year, we have a responsibility to match that level of creativity by devising new stand attractions that will really wow attendees.”

Phil McMullin, Sales Manager, ProGraphics, at Epson UK, revealed: “Working with our partners at the show, Colourbyte and RGB, we closed a number of sales during the three days of the event, while leads relating to all of our product lines were 50 percent up on 2018 too!”

Elsewhere, Chris Martin, Head of Sales at printMAX, said: “The Print Show really exceeded our expectations this year; not only was it rewarding in terms of business – it was also brilliantly engaging and had a real buzz. Furthermore, we really enjoyed all three days and it was our most successful show so far.”

Finally, Brett Newman, Chief Operations Manager at Hybrid Services, Mimaki’s exclusive distributor in the UK and Ireland, said: “The Print Show was a great platform for the UK, European and worldwide Mimaki launches that we hosted.

“There was terrific interest in the Mimaki SWJ-320EA super-wide format solvent printer and the Mimaki JV300Plus series printer as well as the CJV300Plus printer/cutter, all of which were debuted at the show – next year we are looking forward to a lot more of the same!”
