Trotec’s SP2000 laser cutter scoops EDP Award
Trotec’s large format SP2000 laser cutter won the European Digital Press Association (EDP) award for Best Laser Cutting System at the recent FESPA 2017 exhibition in Hamburg.
Specifically designed to suit the needs of the sign and digital printing sectors, the SP2000 offers a working area of 1680 mm x 2510 mm, four-sided access and automatic safety features, and can be used to cut or engrave a diverse range of materials, including paper, cardboard, acrylic, wood and textiles.
The SP2000, which forms part of the SP series of large format lasers, features a fully enclosed beam path and easy access to the working area to keep operators safe, while Sonar Technology, auto-focusing, a travelling exhaust and cutting speeds up to 2m/sec ensure high productivity without compromising the quality of the finish. Further, the ability to recognise printed registration marks results in accurate and consistent print and cut results, even for intricate and detailed jobs.
This year, Trotec also unveiled the machine’s new Tandem Assist feature, which enables one half of the machine bed to be unloaded and re-loaded while the laser operates on the other half of the bed., thus ensuring optimum productivity.
FESPA 2017 was also the launch pad for the new roll material extension for the SP2000’s bigger brother, the SP3000 laser cutter. This feature is ideal when creating soft signage and for other textile applications where material is loaded from a roll.
