A voyage of discovery

Romford-based Graphic Station has been busy putting its new Mimaki JFX200-2513 LED UV wide-format printer through its paces this month, following its purchase of the machine at the recent Sign & Digital UK exhibition.

After several consultations with i-Sub Digital’s Emma Plant, Graphic Station’s Director Paul Fox arrived at the show, which took place at Birmingham’s NEC, before the doors opened, and made straight for the i-Sub Digital stand, determined to purchase the ideal printer for Graphic Station’s business’s needs.

Now following the JFX200-2513’s installation, the Graphic Station team has been busy producing a huge variety of experimental output, ranging from high-quality office signage, to innovative retail branding, to creative home décor.

Paul Fox enthused: “We’ve done so many different things! Currently, we are working with an artist to print onto Welsh black slate and we’ve also printed onto wood, MDF, acrylic and Dibond, created promotional work for Arriva’s London headquarters, worked on branded cupboards for a national cake shop chain and produced taxi-cab signs. We’ve also tried a whole range of materials and designs, with brilliant results and are keen to share our new resource with a local non-profit art group, so that we can give something back to the community.”

The Mimaki JFX200-2513 is a 2.4m x 1.2m LED UV flatbed printer that can produce superior output on substrates up to 50mm thick at up to 25sq,m/hr, using CMYK UV ink, plus white, clear and primer options to deliver imaginative designs and vibrant colours. However, despite these market-leading features, the JFX200-2513 is affordably priced in order to appeal to the budgets of sign and print companies of all sizes and denominations.

Paul Fox confides that he now also has his eye on the Mimaki UJF-3042 desktop printer, for use with i-Sub Digital’s exclusive Digi-Foil foiling system, which will enable his company to produce the packaging prototypes, personalised promotional materials, unusual decorative effects and many other equally novel options that will enable it to further diversify into lucrative new areas.

He concluded: “The UJF-3042 would facilitate the production of metallic, coloured, holographic and other effects that are identical to those achieved by the traditional foiling processes, in a matter of minutes, and it is definitely the next item on our wish list!”
