WRAPS invests in the UK’s first Epson SC-F9300

With digital textile printing increasing in popularity, Andover-based WRAPS has recently purchased the UK’s first Epson SureColor SC-F9300 dye-sublimation printer, in order to take full advantage of this growing trend.

The company, which was originally founded in July 2015, and now employs a staff of 35 and enjoys an annual turnover of £3.5 million, purchased the machine from Epson reseller Colourbyte. Tom Withers, WRAPS’ Chief Executive, explained: “Since our inception, we’ve purchased an Epson SureColor SC-P6000 and Epson SureColor SC-F9200 from Colorbyte and have always been impressed with the service it’s provided, so it was the obvious choice when we wanted to increase the scope of our soft goods department.”

The SureColor SC-F9300, a 64-inch, high-volume dye sublimation textile printer that was launched last October, is specially designed for fast high-volume printing for clothing, textiles and soft signage, as well as other printed merchandise. This new flagship model replaces the existing SC-F9200, with an evolution of Epson print technology that provides enhanced quality with greater productivity and reliability.

Brand new Epson Precision Dot technology for dye sublimation including a halftone module, look-up tables and micro-weave help make a noticeable difference to print quality, and make it easy to achieve quality results. Furthermore, Epson’s wide gamut CMYK input profile combines with UltraChrome DS inks to ensure the maximum colour gamut, for accurate reproduction of even the most complex designs.

Now offering print speeds of up to 108.6m2/h, the SC-F9300 provides a complete Epson solution, comprising printer, inks, sublimation papers and software, that maximises uptime, with improved take-up and other reliability features to eliminate common industry problems such as cockling and head strike.

Tom Withers, continued: “The SC-F9300 has already made a big impact and enabled us to offer our customers a whole new range of fabric-based printed products, including cushions, towels, wash bags, tote bags and blankets.

“Colorbytes’ Andreas Tangemann, who has helped to guide our equipment purchases over the last couple of years recommended the SC-F9300 and has since provided sterling service before, during and post installation. We intend to further expand our operation during the coming year and will have no hesitation in returning to Colorbyte for more new kit, as and when we need it.”
