Brightening up the high street

Brightening up the high street
Signage specialist Signs 24-7 has completed a comprehensive window vinyl project that is designed to brighten up a number of high streets across Cheshire.

The company, which is based in Hartford, was commissioned in September by Cheshire West and Chester Council, following a competitive tender process.

As part of the scheme, Signs 24-7 has designed, manufactured and installed a range of graphics that now feature in empty commercial units across Chester, Ellesmere Port, Northwich and Winsford to help high streets, towns and the city centre to look more aesthetically pleasing.

Facilitated by the Government’s ‘Welcome Back Fund’, the window vinyl project forms one part of an entire re-opening programme that is taking place right across the borough to aid economic recovery and increase footfall and dwell time on Cheshire West’s high streets.

Wendy Batey-Gray, a Director at Signs 24-7, hopes visitors to Chester, Ellesmere Port, Northwich and Winsford enjoy the feel-good nature of the graphics and that they continue to support the borough’s high streets over the winter and beyond.

She said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with the council in its aim to help the region bounce back from the pandemic and begin the road to recovery.

“We feel that the graphics help to inject vibrancy across the high streets where they have been installed and hope people take some time to check them out on their visits at each location. It’s so important for people to shop local and support the businesses on their doorstep.”

Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, added: “The eye-catching murals link in with each location’s heritage and community spirit while also adding colour and vibrancy for passers-by to enjoy. I hope these graphics help to connect residents and visitors with the places they live, work and spend leisure time.”

The Welcome Back Fund is funded through the European Regional Development Fund and is managed by HM Government.
