Digital Wordcrafts doubles its productivity

Leicester-based Digital Wordcrafts recently purchased an Agfa Anapurna H3200i LED UV printer and a Zünd G3 XL3200 digital flatbed cutter from i-Sub Digital.

Digital Wordcrafts, which was founded in 1988, provides a complete range of printing and signage solutions to companies across the UK. Explaining the scope of his company’s services, Managing Director, said: “One of our major customers is health food retail chain, Holland & Barrett. Using our large and small format printing facilities, we provide all the internal graphics for its stores throughout the country, as well as external fascia, illuminated and projecting signage.”

He continued: “Over the last 15 years or so, I-Sub has provided all of our large format Mimaki solvent machines. We began with a 1.3m Mimaki printer and, as demand grew, so did the width of our printers and ultimately we ended up with a 2.6m Mimaki JV34 and a 3.2m JV5. Now we have two 1.6m and one 1.3m Mimaki JV150 machines, all of which are serving us very well. The Agfa Anapurna was primarily purchased to replace a super-wide format machine and at 3.2m wide, it satisfies all our print requirements.”

The Agfa Anapurna H3200i LEDUV is a belt-driven hybrid machine, which can handle all types of rigid sheet materials and roll media up to 3.2m wide, the latter of which can be used in both single-roll and dual-roll configurations. Using LED UV curing, it supports a wide mix of media, delivering high quality output and, with a white ink option as standard, the range of possible applications is also greatly increased.

Adrian Bingley observed: “While we were very happy with our previous machine, we wanted a 3.2m printed with an inline white facility and the Anapurna delivered everything we needed at a realistic price.

“It is now running for 15 hours a day, every day and its productivity is around double that of its predecessor, enabling us to take on bigger and more profitable projects. For example, one customer asked for 400 metres of poster paper to be turned around within 26 hours. We ran it in addition to our already busy schedule and delivered on time, which is something we couldn’t have done previously.”

In addition to the new 3.2m printer, i-Sub also supplied the latest 3.2m Zünd G3 digital flatbed cutter. Adrian said: “We have used Zünd cutters for many years and were very keen to keep this relationship going. We needed a wider, faster and more versatile machine and i-Sub arranged a fantastic deal that allowed us to part exchange our two previous Zünd P/N model cutters. The new machine has a conveyor belt system that enables us to add a roll on one end that moves through the cutter and delivers a seamless workflow. The consequent time saving has had a massive impact on our overall productivity.”

He concluded: “As well as being able to take on more projects, we can offer a more complete service and a broader range of materials and styles. This is vital to the long-term growth and success of our company. We are exceedingly happy with our new machines and delighted with the help and support we’ve received from i-Sub.”
