Engraving chiefs tee off against cancer

Martyn Wright, founder and Managing Director of the Brunel Engraving Company, has recently teamed up with his son Phil, Technical Director at the company, to participate in The Great Golf Challenge launched by Cancer Research UK to raise funds towards the fight against the disease.

The two engraving specialists who work at Brunel’s headquarters in Clevedon, near Bristol, were joined by Martyn’s future son in law and a close family friend to enter the 72 holes in one day Golf Challenge which they successfully completed on 15th August at Clevedon’s Tickenham Golf club.

It was a 6.30am tee off for the team and the players walked nearly 18 miles, taking around 37,000 steps per player and climbing 1200ft on the course before completing the challenge 13 hours later at 7.30pm.

To date they have raised over £3,100, approaching £4,000 (including gift aid) to support the work of Cancer Research UK.

Martyn Wright commented: “All four of us in the team have been touched in some way by the devastating effects of cancer and we wanted to do something positive to fight back.

“It was a gruelling day and quite an undertaking, but we were all proud to complete the course. Our thanks go to everybody who donated and helped us to reach the top ten level of donations.
