JKN Digital plumps for vibrancy, reliability and efficiency

Large-format print specialist JKN Digital is looking ahead to 2020 following a further investment in innovative HP printing technology, which is designed to boost efficiency and quality.

Founded in 1988 with a workroom that initially comprised plotting and cutting equipment, JKN Digital was an early investor in digital printing technology and has been a loyal HP customer for the past ten years. Until 2019 it ran seven HP Latex 370 printers at its Preston headquarters, which delivered excellent quality printing on roll media for mounting onto rigid boards.

JKN Digital’s Managing Director, Peter Nicholls, who keeps a constant eye on the latest printing developments, had followed the release of the HP Latex R2000 hybrid printer with interest and visited HP Graphic Arts Experience Centre in Barcelona for a tailored demonstration.

He reported: “In Barcelona I was able to see the quality of the output achieved on the R2000, especially when printing direct to rigid substrates and I was particularly impressed by the white ink; its vibrancy really makes it superior to all other whites on the market.”

JKN Digital accordingly acquired its HP Latex R2000 through authorised HP dealer Papergraphics last March. Since then it has been used to print applications requiring white window graphics and displays on metallic materials for the Christmas retail market. While the machine’s creative potential is enormous, Peter explained that his favourite features are its reliability and its efficiency.

He continued: “We’ve always found the HP technology very reliable, but the R2000 builds on that – it has excellent mechanical stability and we also have the back-up from HP for its maintenance. That’s really vital in this day and age when everyone wants everything yesterday.

“We’ve also improved efficiency by working faster with the same number of staff while keeping the quality of output very high.”

Papergraphics also supplied two HP Latex 570 printers to JKN Digital in May 2019. The compact Latex 570 model uses the same eco-friendly water-based ink as the HP Latex R2000, which is designed for cost-effective, high-quality production.

These three new systems that replace the seven older HP printers, are part of JKN Digital’s ongoing commitment to investment.
