Mega investment for Nationwide Platforms

Nationwide Platforms, a leading UK provider of powered access rentals, has invested around £24.5million in its hire fleet during 2014.

This includes the acquisition of around 700 new boom and scissor lifts, which will mostly replace the older units in the company’s existing range of more than 10,700 units.

The largest proportion of the spend will go towards new diesel boom lifts (16-43 metres) and scissor lifts (8-18.5 metres) from Genie, together with some new equipment from MEC and Haulotteall of which are due to enter the fleet before the autumn.

Around £3.5million will also be spent on new units to enhance the business’s Specialist Vehicle division. This will include both truck and van mounted platforms from suppliers Bronto, CTE, Ruthmann and Versalift.

Jeremy Fish, Managing Director of Nationwide Platforms, said: “At Nationwide Platforms we strive to deliver the industry’s most positive customer experience. Our latest investment further reflects our commitment to providing a leading hire fleet across our 26 UK locations.”

This latest investment marks the third consecutive year of major fleet replenishment, with around £70million having been spent on more than 3000 new machines since the beginning of 2012.

Nationwide Platforms operates from its Head Office in Lutterworth, Leicestershire and provides safe access solutions from local depots across the UK. The business is part of Lavendon Group plc which earlier this year announced an investment of more than £55million across its international operations.
