Source Signs speeds up with a Roland TrueVIS VG2-640

Glasgow’s Source Signs has reported that replacing its second-hand Roland VersaCAMM with a brand-new Roland TrueVIS VG2-640, supplied by Quality Print Services (QPS), has made ‘a massive difference’ to its turnaround speeds.

As an authorised Roland supplier, QPS was able to offer Source Signs a good deal on the new TrueVIS under the VersaCAMM scrappage scheme. The design of the TrueVIS VG2 benefits from Roland’s four decades’ of experience in the production of integrated printer/cutter technology, including the much loved VersaCAMM series, together with innovative new additions. Launched in 2019, the TrueVIS VG2 has won several awards for its all-round production efficiencies and quality of output.

Source Signs, which specialises in the production of health and safety signage for the construction industry as well as producing vehicle graphics, banners and retail signage, had been using its Roland VersaCAMM for around five years, before replacing it with the TrueVIS VG2-640. Following its installation at the beginning of June, Charles O’Brien, Managing Director at Source Signs, observed that the new machine has made a significant impact, enabling the company to finish prints in just six hours.

“The TrueVIS VG2 is a similar platform to the VersaCAMM so our familiarity made it very easy for us to use, but it also offers the advantage of much quicker drying ink,” he said.. “This faster turnaround has made a massive difference. We can provide a next-day service if the client needs it, and urgent work is very common in the construction industry.

“The VG2’s roll-up feature also means that it takes up less space in the print room and keeps the graphics off the floor. But my favourite thing is the LED light – it’s a little design feature but it makes it much easier to see colour differences.”

Roland launched the TrueVIS VG2 with over 40 enhancements over previous models, some small, such as the additional light and some major, such as quick-drying TR2 inks. Users can choose from several ink sets including Green and Orange options, but Source Signs feels that the quality of the four-colour configuration is high enough to meet its needs.

Chris Bailey, Managing Director of QPS, commented: “The TrueVIS VG2 from Roland is a fantastic machine for print businesses that need to turn colour-accurate work around quickly, so it’s the perfect fit for Source Signs. The company  has been a service customer of ours for several years, so we didn’t hesitate in recommending the VG2.”

Charles O’Brien concluded: “The TrueVIS was installed by the same QPS engineer who regularly serviced our old machine, so we knew him, and he knew our needs. The whole service was great.”
