Stocksigns completes the Dingle Dash

Not many businesses have tackled both the ‘The Three Peaks Challenge’, which includes scaling Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis, and North Africa’s largest mountain range, Mount Toubkal, but Surrey-based signage specialists Stocksigns Group has now completed yet another challenge to add to its impressive list of fund-raising endeavours.

The Dingle Dash, a hike across Dingle, Ireland took place during June when a team of 17 experienced hikers from Stocksigns, Messagemaker Displays, Gatwick Airport and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), gathered to take on the peaks of Dingle and accomplish their toughest task to date.

The team accumulated 22 hours of hiking over the course of two days, covering 46 miles while reaching a total elevation of 9,000 feet.  The difficulty of this hike was further compounded by the prevailing weather conditions, with the team powering its way through heavy downpours, sunburn-inducing sunshine, downhill bogs and rocky terrains.  As a result of this successful accomplishment, Stocksigns Group raised a total of £6,429 in aid of RoSPA and St Catherine’s Hospice.

Beginning at the Brandon View Point in Dingle, the team completed a twelve and a half hour hike, during which it covered a total of 26.5 miles at an elevation gain of 6,107 feet.  The steep climb up Mount Brandon was difficult, but the team finally emerged through the cloud to reach the summit. This achievement was rewarded with an amazing view over Feohanagh, before it completed a 10-mile hike to the finish line for day one.

On day two, while still feeling the after-effects of the previous day’s exertions, the team covered a shorter distance, beginning with a hike up Eagle Mountain and through Dunquin, before traversing steep hills during alternate spells of rain and sunshine.  At the top of Eagle Mountain another checkpoint was ticked off the list, and, once again, the fantastic views helped the participants to ignore their aches, pains and sunburn.  At every peak, the team proudly flew its banner which listed all the sponsors and chosen charities.

Commenting on the challenge, Danny Adamson, Managing Director of the Stocksigns Group, said: “I’m so proud of everyone for completing such a gruelling task in the name of charity.  The perseverance shown was admirable, as was the team’s determination to raise funds.

“We have also donated an additional £1,800 from our Q1 promotion, which saw Stocksigns Group donating 20p from every sign sold in aid of RoSPA’s Brighter Beginnings Appeal.  We are thrilled to have completed the Dingle Dash and are looking forward to our next challenge.”

The Redhill-based company received fundraising support from suppliers and partners including UK-based Heron Contractors, metals and plastics stockholders/distributors Righton Blackburns, IT support and business telecoms company Arcom ICT, and PR Agency Famous Publicity.
