swissQprint introduces a novel glass printing solution
At FESPA Global Print Expo, swissQprint has presented a novel new solution for UV flatbed printing on glass, which comprises the glass printing option and an adhesion-optimised ink set.

Individually printed glass elements are currently very on-trend in interior design, where they are frequently used for kitchen splashbacks, shower and room partitions, glass doors, lift cabin panelling, wall art and much more besides.. For those already providing such services, and others with plans to do so, swissQprint has put together an interesting package: a mechanical solution to facilitate an efficient, clean printing process, complemented by an ink set for optimum adhesion.

A pivoting alignment edge with five  adjustable horizontal stops, which can be used in conjunction with swissQprint flatbed printers, ensures precise positioning of glass panels on the print bed. The latter is covered by a special protective paper that is air-permeable, thus ensuring that the media is vacuum secured, but that the paper retains ink printed in the bleed margin. The print bed remains clean, and with the roll to roll option, the operator advances the paper at the touch of a button, minimising the setup time between jobs.

The ink set is optimised for glass printing and includes process and light colours, as well as white and a varnish option. No bonding agent is necessary, thus eliminating one step of the production process. The varnish option can be used to produce special effects, such as partial frosting or a gloss finish.

With this new solution, both new and existing swissQprint users can capitalise on the trend for printed glass  and specialise in direct printing onto glass. The glass option and inks are retrofittable to swissQprint LED printers, thus minimising both capital expenditure and production costs.

To see this new solution in action, visit the swissQprint stand (Stand C30, Hall 1.2) at FESPA Global Print Expo in Berlin (31st May- 3rd June
