TheMagicTouch puts its best foot forward!
With the introduction of new DTF transfer and toner-based processes, which can be used to decorate all kinds of shoes and boots, TheMagicTouch has now created an opportunity for the personalisation of footwear,

Jim Nicol, the Managing Director of TheMagicTouch explained: “25 years ago we were very fortunate to engage with many leading shoe and fashion footwear brands that wanted to create limited edition designs and incorporate full-colour images. The pioneer, both then and now, remains Dr Martens, which was originally based in Northamptonshire, where limited edition, full-colour designs were produced within the company’s own in-house production facility.

However, for all other ad hoc producers, the entry-level cost of digital transfer printers and equipment was too high to make any sort of bespoke customisation unviable. In addition, the footwear also had to be constructed once the design had been printed to a specific leather panel, making the whole process far too fiddly and labour intensive for many producers to even consider.

Now though, TheMagicTouch offers various full-colour transfer options for the decoration of all types of footwear. Using a combination of both toner-based and DTF transfers, full-colour images can be applied directly to almost any type of trainers, sliders, sports boots, safety shoes and sandals in as little as one minute, using one of the many hand-held irons that are specifically designed to produce the intricate transfer applications that are extensively used within the craft market.

The printed and cured DTF transfers are easily applied to almost any part of the footwear with minimal risk of damage or rejects and the finished transfer is vibrant, eye-catching and, more importantly, very durable. Once applied, the transfers can be just as easily and quickly removed using traditional flex and HTV removal sprays.

Other advantages of the DTF transfer technology include the elimination of cutting, weeding, and pre-treatment processes but best of all, the whole process can be achieved very cost-effectively, thus maximising the potential for profit.

Jim Nicol added: “At the moment, the choice of personalisation for footwear is limited and also very expensive, which is why even the offerings from some of the world’s leading sports shoe brands are restricted to simple single colour names with a limited choice of positioning. On the other hand, our customers can use our products to create attractive custom footwear easily, quickly and profitably!”
